The refugium of the Carpathian forest fauna
by Agnieszka Nowak, Damian Nowak, Poland

The Carpathian Mountains is the last place where the rarest animals still have their refuge. Increasingly developed road infrastructure is a problem for wild animals. Vast refuges lose their connection. Animals die on the roads. Some people tried to identify important places where animals paths cross with passageways. Project led to creation of a map containing main passageways for animals. Results are essential for a better planning of further region development in respect of natural heritage.
